Mercedes G63 AMG 6×6 Review, Full Specifications

Mercedes has confirmed that the Mercedes G63 AMG 6×6 is going into production. This confirmation comes straight from Mr. Alex Harries, Head of the G-Class development who told to media that the famous German car manufacturer has confirmed to produce 20 – 30 units of the 6×6 G63 AMG per year.

The 6-wheeled Mercedes G63 AMG 6×6 is based on the G320 CDI that has been developed for the Australian army since 2011. It will be sold to the civilian, the AMG 6×6 gets the all wheel drive system and the 5 differential locks from the donor vehicle.

The military variant has powered by a 3.0-liter diesel engine and mated to a five-speed auto transmission but the civilian version equipped with 5.5-liter V8 bi-turbo engine that develops the maximum power of 536 hp and 560 lb-ft of torque. The power transmission to all the wheels has been done by seven-speed 7G-tronic transmission system. The 6-wheeled G63 AMG is 5867mm long, 2111mm wide and 2209mm tall that makes it 1105mm longer, 226mm wider and 272mm taller than the standard 2013 Mercedes G63 AMG.

The Chief of G Class development, Mr. Axel Harries says the car will accelerates from 0-100 km/h in less than 6 seconds and hits the top speed of 160 km/h (100 mph).

The G63 AMG 6×6 will have a fuel economy figure of 13 mpg US or 18-liter / 100 kilometer.

The 6-wheeled G63 AMG rides on huge 37-inch wheels and has an impressive ground clearance of 460 mm (18.1 inches) and weighting around 3,775 kg. The car also has a stainless steel roll cage and a payload capacity of about 650 kg.
It is expected that Mercedes G63 AMG 6×6 will become the second most expensive Mercedes car after the SLS AMG (416,500 EUR) – and the new variant will be approx. three times more costly than the Standard Mercedes G63 AMG which is currently costing around 137,000 EUR. It is expected to go on sale this October 2013…
